About Jupiter Jots

A bookmark manager for people who save pages for a reason and want to find them again.

Why it exists

#

Browser bookmarks are good at remembering an address and bad at remembering why it mattered. A year later you have a folder called “Read later” with four hundred titles in it, and no idea which one had the paragraph you needed.

Jupiter Jots started in 2024 as a small Chrome extension to fix that: save a page, tag it, write a line about why. Version 2 rebuilds it as one app that works in the toolbar popup, Chrome’s side panel and a full-screen library, with nested collections, page descriptions and a proper import from Chrome.

It is free, it needs no account, and your library never leaves your computer.

How we build it

#
Local first
Your bookmarks are stored in your browser on your device. There is no server holding a copy, and no analytics watching how you use it. Export is always available, so leaving is easy.
Fast
Saving takes one click or one shortcut, and search answers as you type. Everything is local, so there is nothing to wait for.
Calm
No streaks, badges or notifications asking for attention. Jupiter Jots stays out of the way until you need something you saved.

What’s next

#

Planned features. None of these are in the extension yet.

Sync
The same library on every computer you use. It will be optional, and off until you turn it on.
Mobile apps
Save from your phone’s share menu and read later, with your library in sync.
Reminders
Pick a time to come back to a page, and get reminded.
Ask your library
An AI assistant that answers questions from what you saved, such as summarising your links on a topic. You choose which collections it can read.
