Terms of use

The rules for using Jupiter Jots, in plain language. It is free, your data is yours, and it comes as it is.

Effective 18 October 2026. Last updated 18 October 2026.

Agreeing to these terms

#

These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of Jupiter Jots (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the Jupiter Jots extension for Chrome, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it, and remove it from chrome://extensions.

How we handle data is described in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.

Using Jupiter Jots

#

We give you a free, personal, non-exclusive licence to install and use Jupiter Jots on any computer you use, for personal or professional purposes. There is nothing to buy and no account to create.

You may not sell Jupiter Jots, or publish a modified copy of it as your own, without our written permission.

Your data is yours

#

Your bookmarks, notes, tags, collections and settings belong to you. They are stored in your browser on your device, and we claim no rights over them.

Because we never receive your data, you are responsible for keeping a copy. Uninstalling the extension, clearing your browser’s site data or losing the device deletes your library. Use Export or Back up on the Import & export page to keep one.

Acceptable use

#

Please don’t use Jupiter Jots to:

  • break any law that applies to you, or infringe anyone else’s rights;
  • collect or organise material in order to harm, harass or defraud other people;
  • tamper with the extension, or repackage it with malicious code.

Saving a link does not give you rights to the page behind it. The sites you bookmark have their own terms.

What stays ours

#

The Jupiter Jots name, logo, design and code remain ours. These terms don’t give you any right to use them beyond running the extension, though you are welcome to link to this website and to the Chrome Web Store listing.

No warranty

#

Jupiter Jots is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We work to make it reliable, but we can’t promise it will be free of bugs, always available, or compatible with every future version of Chrome.

Limits on liability

#

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss from using or being unable to use Jupiter Jots, including lost bookmarks, lost data or lost time. Because the extension is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the smallest amount the law permits.

Some places don’t allow these limits. Where that is the case, they apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing here takes away your rights as a consumer.

Stopping

#

You can stop at any time by uninstalling the extension. Export your library first if you want to keep it. If we ever stop developing or distributing Jupiter Jots, the copy you have installed keeps working with the data on your device.

Changes to these terms

#

We may update these terms as Jupiter Jots changes. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page and note it in the changelog. If you keep using Jupiter Jots after a change, the new terms apply.

Governing law

#

These terms are governed by the laws of [your country], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
